I recently did some online “window shopping” for spring and summer inspiration. I came across a moss bowl arrangement for the Target Studio McGee line. It was a little larger than I wanted and was $50. I knew I could recreate one that was just the size I wanted.
This is my inspiration:
First I gathered my supplies. I already had most of the things I needed on hand.
Supplies:
- Plastic bowl (check your dollar store) THIS is the one I used.
- Spray primer
- Texture spray paint
- Concrete spray paint
- White craft paint
- Styrofoam (to create a dome shape)
- Moss
- Hot glue gun
- Craft brush (to add craft paint)
- Paper towels (to wipe off excess white paint)
How to:
First, I sprayed the bowl with a coat of primer and let it dry.
Then I sprayed two light coats of textured spray paint.
Once it was dry, I sprayed the bowl with the concrete spray paint and let it dry.
Then I brushed the outside of the bowl with some watered down white craft paint. I wiped away the excess with a paper towel. You can wipe away as much or as little of the paint as you want to achieve the overall look you want.
Once the bowl was dry, I hot glued the foam piece(s) to the inside bottom of the bowl.
Then hot glued to moss to the foam. Covering the entire top of the domed surface.
And you’re done!
You can customize this to the size you want. Maybe even create a trio for a table centerpiece. Most do the items can be found at your local dollar store, or at an arts and crafts store (be sure to use your coupons!).
I hope you’ll come back soon for more DIY’s, home decor, recipes, mom life and all the in between.
