This morning, my boys asked for cinnamon rolls, but we didn’t have any thawed or ready to make. But I did have the ingredients to make some (semi)- homemade ones.
You will need:
For CINNAMON ROLLS:
- one can of crescent sheet or rolls
- cinnamon sugar mix (see below)I used about 1.5-2tbsp total
- 1 TBSP melted butter
For ICING:
- 1.5 cups powdered sugar
- 1.5 TBSP milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 Tbsp melted butter
For Cinnamon Sugar Mix:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 TBSP ground cinnamon
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Spray an 8×8 baking dish with cooking spray.
- Roll out the crescent dough. If using rolls, press the seams to seal them.
- Use ONE TBSP of the melted butter and brush on the crescent dough.
- Sprinkle with 1.5-2 TBSP of the cinnamon sugar mix.
- Roll up the crescent dough tightly. Pressing seam at the end.
- Cut into slices. I cut mine into 12, but you can make them as thick or thin as you want.
- Place slices in baking dish.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes until light golden on top.
- While baking make the homemade icing by mixing all the icing ingredients and stirring well. You can add a dash more of milk if you need it to be a little thinner.
- Once the cinnamon rolls are done, spread the icing mixture over the top.
- Serve warm and enjoy!!!
*TIP- I keep the cinnamon sugar mix in a spice container. We use it for cinnamon toast and more!
