Nothing says Thanksgiving quite like a pumpkin pie… at least that’s what my kiddos say!
This one is easy to make- I even let my boys help me. There are many versions of pumpkin pie recipes- we have tried many… but keep coming back to this one… and the extra streusal topping is one my boys love.
This will make ONE pie.
Ingredients:
- 1- 9 inch, unbaked pie crust
- 1- 15 oz can of pure pumpkin
- 1- 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
(optional topping)
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- In a medium bowl, mix pumpkin, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, spices and salt- I use my had mixer to combine well.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes, then decrease the temperature to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes until cooked through.
- OPTIONAL: If you are adding the streusal topping, mix together the brown sugar and flour then cut in the cold butter until the mixture is crumbly. Stir in the nuts. Sprinkle over the top during the last 10 minutes of the final cooking time and bake at 350 for the last 10 minutes.
- We love to eat ours warm.
- Enjoy.
