When we purchased our home, almost three years ago, we knew that replacing the outdated dingy carpet was definitely on the to do list. We has been looking around at the various options of wood/wood look flooring available on the market today: vinyl, ceramic tile, hardwood, engineered wood, laminate and more! The color choices are all beautiful and there is something for everyone’s style of home. We fell in love with the Barnwood color. It is a great medium toned wood color, with natural looking shade variations for an authentic barnwood look. Each plank also has natural looking texture and realistic saw marks that further lend to the authentic barnwood look.
Installation is so easy! It comes with the foam backer attached- which means one less thing to install and no struggling with rolls of foam backing. It has an easy to install Speedloc system- no special tools needed to install it. Just line up the tongue and groove portions and click into place. All you need to do is make cuts as needed to fit your space.
For the installation in my home, I followed the steps below.
- removed old carpeting & padding
- removed all staples and nails left behind from the carpet
- removed the baseboards
- installed the new laminate flooring per the manufacturers instructions
- re-installed the baseboards
- installed transition strips in doorway areas where necessary
Cleanup is a breeze too! You can use a dust mop or a vacuum with a soft bristle brush attachment. The Spill Defense Collection can even be wet mopped.
