Last year I updated my youngest room. It took almost 2 months! I had to repair wall damage after removing warped wood wall boards. I scraped the popcorn ceiling, added all new baseboards, vertical shiplap and more! All the details on how I updated his room can be found HERE.
After two long months, by the time I was done I had run out of energy before I could add the finishing touches and personality to the space.
His rooms theme is ocean/underwater inspired. I just never found the right pieces to complete the space. That is until I was shopping on Beddy’s website and found an accessory bundle that had the color of his walls and ceiling and is shark themed!! The bundle included a digital art print, pillows, pillow inserts and a blanket. I also added new bedding from Beddy’s in a new spring print called Aiden. Anytime I plan to update or make changes to a space, big or small, I create a mood board. I am very visual and like to SEE how items will coordinate together. This helps me to make final choices and hopefully less returns later. This is the mood board I created for my youngest’s room.
These were just the items I needed to bring his room to life!!! I also found some great shark curtains, wall decals, and a sign to complete the space.
First, I rearranged his room for a better flow and allow him more room to play. I turned his bed and put it into the corner and than added a nightstand.
I planned out where the shark decals would go… and decided I wanted to add one more detail to pull the room together… so I built a surfboard!!! I painted it in a striped pattern using colors that would coordinate with his room and new bedding. I have all the details on how I built surfboard HERE.
I hung the new curtains.
Put up the wall decals.
Installed the surfboard.
Added the new bedding and pillows and blanket.
And his room was complete!!!
I also added a nightlight (like his brothers) that protects the moon and stars onto the ceiling.
He loves his room and is so excited about it. Every time he walks in I see his eyes light up!
